SWE at Sac State
|
SWE is a vibrant, award-winning group at the California State University, Sacramento. Our section strives to support fellow female engineering students as they excel in technical fields, develop as leaders, and give back to the community. Our members are accomplished engineering students: they have been recognized at the local, regional, and national levels. Students interested in developing leadership skills can take advantage of a variety of professional development opportunities at conferences and special sessions; a multitude of officer roles are available to test new skills in practice. Giving back to the community through engineering diversity outreach is a top priority. So many SWE members were impacted through the outreach efforts of various engineering groups. For this reason, we organize an annual event called Women's Shadow Day to introduce local high school girls to engineering by participating laboratory activities, meeting faculty from the College of Engineering & Computer Science, and interacting with current engineering students. SWE members compose the event's Planning Committee and lead many student volunteers, male and female, from the engineering college. |
